It doesn’t even seem real that in 2 months, my baby girl will be 1 year old! Hopefully in 2 months, I’ll be ready to accept that reality. Kinsie has hit a lot of milestones this past month. Lately she’s been acting less like a baby and more like a toddler. Yikes! She is constantly on the move…if I turn my back for 2 seconds, she is half way across the room getting into the dog’s food! She definitely keeps us busy every day, but she also knows how to keep us smiling!
At 10 months old, Kinsie…
- Can officially crawl…and never stops.
- Can pull herself up…and tries to every chance she gets.
- Can stand independently for up to 10 seconds.
- Has her third and fourth tooth.
- Knows what the word “no” means and doesn’t like it.
- Loves eating table food.
- Waves “hi” and “bye.”
- Can say “mama” and “dada.”
- Often screams when she’s happy…which causes her cousin Briggs to call her an ostrich.
- Sleeps with her butt up in the air.
- Loves reading stories before bed with her mom and dad.
This girl is just too much fun!
This summer has been full of adventures for me, Ryan and the little one, including many trips to my in-laws’ lake house at Heritage Lake. I’ve been going to Heritage Lake with Ryan’s family since we were in high school. Whether we went in the summer to go boating, or in the winter to just watch movies and make s’mores, it has always been a place that we feel lucky to have available to us. We’ve made lots of memories there, and now we get to share the fun with our little girl. Kinsie’s first visit to the lake was when she was only 2 months old, so she obviously didn’t do much except sleep that visit, but now she is LOVING her visits to the lake! She loves taking boat rides, lounging on the hammock, taking rides on the golf cart, and watching us catch fish. I had a feeling from the beginning that we would have quite an adventurous outdoorsy girl on our hands and boy was I right!
We are truly enjoying every moment we have together as a family this summer before I go back to work and Ryan starts his second year of med school. Of course I would love spending time with my husband regardless of the circumstances, but not having him around as much during the school year has taught us to cherish our time together. Nothing makes us happier than spending quality time together at the lake with Kinsie. Really, it doesn’t matter where we are. We could be at the lake, at the beach, or stuck in the house on a rainy day. As long as I am with those two, I am in my happy place!
I am so excited to officially announce that my sister, Krista and I have started a photography business! Leigh and Kay Photography (Our business name incorporates both of our middle names) is up and running and ready for new clients! Like I’ve mentioned before, photography has always been a passion of mine. I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures, but became obsessed when Ryan surprised me with a new Digital SLR Nikon camera last summer. Of course my obsession grew when Kinsie was born, and she has been my lovely little model anytime I want to practice! Krista has been doing photography on the side for a few years as well, so we recently decided to join up and start a business! Not only do we get to do what we love, but we get to spend more time together! My sister and I are extremely close and have always had a special relationship that not many siblings have. She has always been my best friend and my number one supporter, so you can imagine how excited I am to work with her!
